Red Hot Best of Northern Michigan 2018

Rules for the Red Hot Best of Northern Michigan

Round One: February 1–20

Round one begins on February 1, 2018. MyNorth Media will consider one session of nominating and/or voting per email address during the first round of voting from February 1st through February 20th. Additional nominations or votes from a single email address won't count. Voters may vote or nominate in all 101 categories--just a few categories, all 101 or just one. If participants don't vote on every category, MyNorth Media will give them a chance to fill in any blank categories or continue to submit the ballot as marked. Once submitted, that email address will no longer be eligible to nominate or vote during round one of the Red Hot Best process.

Participants may make nominations by writing in candidates in each category through February 20th. MyNorth Media will review write-in candidates regularly and include appropriate nominations on the ballot. Votes and/or nominations will be closed February 20th at 5pm EDT.

Votes or nominations for candidates that don't meet the requirements of the category will be discarded. For example, nominations and votes for a restaurant in the Best Soup category will be discarded if that restaurant doesn't offer soup on the menu, or if the nomination doesn't include the name of a specific soup.

Round Two: March 1–10

Round Two, referred to as the Final Round or the Top 10 Round begins on March 1 and ends on March 10 at 5:00 pm. MyNorth will post the Top 10 nominations and vote winners in each category. Participants can then vote for one of these top ten. At the end of Round Two or the Final Round, the top three in each category will be considered winners and presented in the Red Hot Best of Northern Michigan content of the Traverse, Northern Michigan's Magazine, June Issue.

Nominations will not be considered during Round Two, the Final Round. MyNorth Media will consider one session of voting per email address, during Round Two, or the Final Round of voting from March 1st through March 10th. Additional votes from a single email address won't count. Voters may vote in all 101 categories, just a few categories or only one. If participants don't cast a vote in every category, MyNorth Media will give them a chance to fill in any blank categories or continue to submit the ballot as marked. Once submitted, that email address will no longer be eligible to vote during Round Two of the Red Hot Best process.

If MyNorth Media learns that a candidate in the Top Ten isn't a valid candidate, after Round Two voting has started, then the next eligible candidate will be added to the Round Two or the Final Round ballot, at that time. Voting will still end on March 10, 5:00 p.m. Invalid candidates would include, but are not limited to, candidates that don't meet the requirements of the category. For example, if the category is Best Soup, and a candidate doesn't include soup on the menu, then they would be removed from the ballot for that category and the next eligible candidate would be added.

As a benefit of participating, all nominators and voters will receive free e-newsletters from MyNorth Media including, Food & Drink, Outdoors, Getting Up North, TicketWire, Northern Home & Style and The Daily Splash.
